11 Months & 4th of July!
July 6, 2010

Weekend? 4th of July? My baby turned 11 months old?

Did this really just happen because I’m pretty sure I missed it. Luckily we didn’t have any BIG plans. I just had a cute 4th of July outfit with matching shoes (that fit my babys fat little feet!) and a pinwheel for Jaidan to wear up to the firework stand. Jared’s family used to sell fireworks and we stopped a couple years ago but his step dad & brother was running a stand this year. Anyway, Friday afternoon we got the call from the main boss that we could go home early. Score! This was the same time that my mom text me that Jaidan felt a little warm. And knowing my moms language, he must’ve been burning up because she doesn’t make anything a big deal. And I seem to be very dramatic… compared to her at least.

So we went and picked him up and he just looked miserable!! If you remember, on his 10 month birthday he had his first fever/sickie. Well this was his 11 month birthday and I felt like dejavu all over again! Why my dear child are you feverish?!?! So I always have to remind myself that fever itself is not a bad thing, it’s the attitude of the baby/kid. Okay… well like I said, he LOOKS miserable!

So we took him to the chiropractor that evening. He didn’t really feel anything in Jaidan’s back like he did the last time so then he did this test on me. Apparently my calcium was low so he gave me these calcium pills. He remembers I don’t take pills (because I remind him everytime I go in there) and he says to just chew them up and he actually chewed one up with me!! haha. Great guy. But GAG. And he said to take 5 of them!! Of course, I will do anything for my sweet boy… so I choked them down with some applesauce.

He was so hot that he wouldn’t nurse, or even wake up to try to nurse. So I had Jared go to the store to get him some tylenol but they are all still recalled!! And he can’t do the generic brand. So we got infant motrin and gave him half a dosage. Within a few minutes he was awake more so we could put drops of water in his mouth. He still would not nurse until Saturday morning at 6am!!

This was my whole weekend. 🙁 We gave him 2 more doses of motrin on Saturday when he was really out of it and managed to make it over to my dads for a little bit. It was a party/cookout he was having. This picture cracks me up. I did not get a lot of sleep so I had a headache but I didn’t realize I was holding my head like that. We are twinkies!!

Sunday he was still the same so we took him to the total care clinic. They said it was an ear infection and a throat infection. On a scale from 1-10 it was a 3. They gave us a prescription for amox if we need it. I’ve read too much about how ineffective antibiotics are for ear infections so we are doing the garlic oil in his ears instead. I only wish we had started that on day 1! He hasn’t had a fever since Sunday… only been cranky. And we made it to the park yesterday… so I hope we are on the mend. I love my little 11 month old!!!
