4 MONTHS OLD
(as of October 23, 2013)
17lbs 7oz & 27″
This is a long one! You did so much growing this month!
I could watch you all day long, my sweet baby boy. Your facial features seem to change daily & I just have to soak it all in. Words cannot even describe what an awesome baby you are. Awesome and squishy!
Breastfeeding:
You nurse about every 2 hours. You can go longer than 2 hours if we are really busy or something. You’re so chill and go with the flow. If you are napping then I wont wake you to eat. I’d say a 17lb baby can sleep through a feeding or two. π When you are sleepy nursing you rub your eyes and cover your face while you nurse. Precious! When you are hungry nursing you suck frantically for about 3 1/2 minutes until it’s gone and then let out the biggest man burp. Precious! And then when you are normal nursing you get easily distracted by noises and have to look behind you to see what it is. Precious! Pretty much anything you do right now is precious if you can’t tell.
It’s been confirmed that you have a DAIRY ALLERGY. After being off of dairy for 2 weeks you started to clear up! I’d eat one small thing of dairy and the reaction would come back for a few hours. Being dairy free has been hard and easy all at the same time. It’s not hard to NOT have it, but it’s hard to replace it with other things. I have a vegan butter that I like. I’m semi trying to/thinking about going gluten free too but come on, who in the world has time for that. But I’m not opposed to it. Maybe I should hire a chef.
Sleeping:
What can I say, you are STILL a great sleeper. Thank you SO much! π The only time we have any problems at night is when you are congested and having a hard time breathing. Then you sleep on one of us & you are perfect. For naps you are great. When you get sleepy, you sleep! Ohhh!! And we moved you to your crib this month! But don’t worry, you are still in our room! And I think I only lasted one night with you in the crib as a crib. Daddy took the side off and pushed it up against the bed so it can be a co-sleeper! Again, don’t worry, you are safe. π
Diaper Duty:
Daddy has had to work a lot more lately so momma has been doing most of your diaper changes. I ordered the last set of diapers we needed to complete our full time cloth diaper stash. We were just doing laundry an awful lot until now. We got 6 bumGenius elementals and 8 bumGenius freestyle. You know what that means?? NO STUFFING! I am just beyond spoiled with cloth diapering. I loved the bumGenius 3.0’s we had with Jaidan but now that we’ve moved up to these I will never go back. Well we do have a few pocket diapers but a good half of them are not.
You’ve also found your… ahem… boy parts! As soon as we change your diaper you are reaching for it. lol
Since I’ve been dairy free for a few weeks now I can say that your poop is MUCH more runny. Meaning if we hear you poop it needs to be changed pronto for no leakage. And sometimes it just happens. It just does. But that’s okay because then I get to put you in your next cute outfit. lol.
Clothing:
Speaking of outfits… we got out the rest of our 6-9 month clothes from Jaidan and they are all WINTER! yay! You are wearing 9 month sleepers & 6-9 month clothes. We had to retire all the 6 month sleepers because you are just too long for them. You babies already grow so fast anyway and then it’s that much harder when you have big babies. Your brother was big chunky weight-wise & you are big length and kind of all over wise. You’re not chunky though, just solid!
Developmentally
You my dear baby are a mover & a shaker. I can just see it in your eyes how curious you are. I have no doubts that you will be all over the place once you figure out how to. You are constantly leaning over/around to see what you can see. You also turn around in a circle on the floor. You are learning to sit on your own & you love it.
Mama of TWO:
This has been the first month that I feel like I’m somewhat getting the hang of it. ‘It’ being life with 2 kids. I just realized out of the blue that I’m not afraid anymore. It seems so backwards but in a way I feel it is almost easier with 2 of yall now. Maybe it’s the age yall are at but I take yall a heck of a lot more places than I did with just Jaidan. We go shopping at Target, the mall, playdates, lunch, etc. For the most part Jaidan is no problem because I don’t have to worry about him taking off from me. He is still a challenge because he wants to do what he wants WHEN he wants but he is old enough now that we can work on obedience. I have much less time for ‘me’ but I’m embracing this season of life because babies grow up!! I’ve seen it happen to everyone else I know so it must be real! lol
Big Brother, Jaidan:
LOVES LOVES LOVES you so much. You are HIS baby! And it’s very much reciprocated. Every time I think he is being too much in your face or too loud we will get the biggest belly laugh from you, proving me wrong of course & we can do nothing but laugh right along with yall. Jaidan can do no wrong and the smile that radiates off your face when he is in earshot is just priceless. I’m praying that this continues through yall’s lives together.
Dear Jonah, I want to teach you how to play cars and how to put your clothes on. If you’re ever alone God will be with you and He will always answer your prayers. Love, Jaidan
Your 1st Halloween!
You were Robin, inspired by your brother, Batman. We started off at the church for our annual Fall Festival where you were cute and smiley until you fell asleep in my arms. You actually woke up when the Tullos girls won the cake walk- TWICE! ha. Then we went over to Luke and Laura’s house where we trick or treated & you stayed all snug and warm in your stroller with your blanket.
We had our first family photo shoot of all 4 of us done by our amazing photographer Natasha Hance. It was so perfect and relaxed. I even got some nursing pics that I’ve always wanted! I can’t wait to see them!
We were supposed to have your baby dedication this month but on the way to church your brother threw up! π We had to call family & cancel last minute. We can try again in a couple months.
You also had your blood work done for the LQTS testing. (Family heart condition that Jared and Jaidan both have) We should have the results in about 6 weeks!
You love your pacifier so much. Right now I’m pretty sure you’d marry it. You don’t need it all the time but when you get sleepy you just want your pacifier and to be left alone.
What an awesome 4 Month’s Β it has been! We love you to the moon & back!
