Here’s how God has blessed us this month:
$476 debt snowball (I refer to this a lot so if you aren’t sure what I’m talking about click here.)
We came home with $200 left from our vacation money! Wahooo!!!
$100 left from May groceries because coupons rock!
$246 from overtime
$186 more overtime
$1008 total went to debt this month!
I already know that July is going to be HUGE because I got my bonus!! And we decided that we haven’t been crazy enough. 🙂 If we pay the regular debt snowball of $465/mo we will be done in about 30 more months, if we do it normal with $1,000/mo going toward debt then we will pay it off in 14 more months. Well, I’m tired of putting money into someone elses account instead of my own so I’m on the 6 month payoff plan. 🙂 I have hopes to pay the rest of this debt off by Jan. 1!
The Dave Ramsey plan is not just about getting out of debt and saying ‘neener neener, I don’t have a credit card.’ It’s soooo much more than that. It’s changing your family tree. (I love when he says that) It’s living your life without worrying about money. It’s preparing for the unexpected. It’s building wealth that you can leave to your kids! The faster we get out of debt, the faster we can ‘have our life back.’
I have a confession… It really annoys me when I hear people say ‘I’m broke’ ‘I can’t afford it’ or anything similar. It’s different if you are actively doing something to change the situation you are in, but if you can ‘afford’ to get a tattoo, but can’t ‘afford’ to do… oh I don’t know, I don’t want to get too detailed, but it’s funny to me how people spend money on what they want to spend money on but they’re the first ones to cry ‘I’m broke’. I’m not judging, we basically used to be the same way!! And I don’t want to annoy myself so I’m getting out of the situation where I would ever say that again! Now if I don’t want to do something I can say ‘I have money, but I choose not to spend my money on that’!!!
I can’t wait to say Buh-Bye to baby step #2 and hello to everything else! Until then, we have some hard work ahead of us. I turned in the last of my papers to start working part time up at the church & every other weekend I’ll be working overtime at my job. I’m still doing good taking the bus to work too!! We are turning over our tiny clothes envelope and hoping to cut our already tiny restaurant/snack envelope in half so we can squeeze a little more to debt. This is only temporary… 6 more months!! I know we can do this! I’m determined!! 🙂
I’ve been listening to Dave Ramsey’s show everyday from 1-4 on my iphone. Google it! The app I have is TuneIn radio. I gotta get my Ramsey fix every day, I’m sure it drives my coworkers bonkers. Too bad. 🙂 I’ve learned SO much!
