I told myself when I had Jaidan that he would be turning ONE in 12 months and to cherish every single month. That’s exactly what I did and I have no regrets. I have been able to stay at home with him 2 extra days a week since going back to work only part time & I haven’t missed a ‘first’ yet! It has been such a wonderful blessing! Here is to my one year old, that in 12 months will be 2. (I’m not focusing on him being a different age, I just hear everyone say ‘where has the time gone?’ I want to make our time count!)
We had some unexpected craziness the day before his birthday. Our air conditioner stopped working! Okay, it was working but it was blowing out hot air! -yuck- And it was a Sunday afternoon so who was going to come out and fix it?? Jared was able to get ahold of someone that was on their way back & in the meantime my good friend, Stephanie, and her husband, Nick, were kind enough to let us use their window unit!! Their a/c had recently gone out and they had a couple window units. So we definitely had no problem sleeping that night!! To make a short story shorter, $1500 later and we now have air. I’m very thankful, for 3 reasons. 1.) We had some type of 10 year warranty that is due to go out NEXT MONTH! Whew!! So it was less than it could’ve been. 2.) It was not this time a year ago or I might not have given birth at home! 3.) Dave Ramsey’s emergency fund! We did not have that much in it since we’ve only been doing it for about 4 months, but it was better than nothing!
Okay… back to my big ONE YEAR OLD. On his birthday we let him sleep in, hahaha. (He slept til about 9) I took a vacation day, yay! We had his photo shoot at the zoo that morning with our new photographer. It was blazing hot but he didn’t fuss once. He is such a go with the flow type baby. 🙂 Don’t get me wrong, he needs lots of attention. If you are not oohing or ahhing over him he will let you know! 🙂 So after a long hot day at the zoo we came home and he napped and then we went out for dinner @ Spring Creek since it was too hot in the house to cook anything. We took his cake outside & I got some cute pics…
He looks like he is having fun, and he is, but he was not a fan of the cake. And actually it turned out more like a bread (it was the applesauce cake recipe) but he didn’t eat it anyway so oh well. The icing I made with apple juice concentrate, cream cheese, vanilla, and some unflavored gelatin. I still don’t know what cake I’m doing for him for his party. He clearly wont be interested in eating it anyway so it will be all about the icing.
