Oh my little Jonah. You are not quite what I think of as a second child. Quiet and reserved with Jaidan talking for you. No, you give your big brother a run for his money already! You can squeal and scream and get our attention just as loud as Jaidan can. We are not quiet people anyway. We are just loud and we laugh a lot. I grew up that way so I just can’t help it & I certainly don’t mind it if you don’t!

Breastfeeding & Sleeping:

A couple of things that have stayed consistent with you so far is your eating and sleeping pattern. Nursing is for nourishment and night time is for sleep. You are not really a comfort nurser. (yet?) Your preference for meals is the boob but you are not against a bottle. We don’t have marathon nursing sessions in the night like we had with Jaidan. Once you are done you want to get down and play or if it’s night time you just want your pacifier. And you are still the quickest nurser I’ve ever known. I doubt we even get 5 minutes. You also love to sleep and you are still a great sleeper. You start off in your crib & a few hours later you crawl over to me and snuggle up. I can’t think of anything more perfect!

Diaper Duty:

We figured out what your rash is from! Your wipes! We use Pampers sensitive but they are not very sensitive on your little butt! 🙁 I love the EWG app to scan products to see what kind of chemicals products have in them. The lower the number the better. Pampers weren’t too bad, but the reason for the 2 was because the allergy is moderate (like the seventh generation brand below)

The ONLY wipes that we found to rate 0 were: The Honest Company. Oh, they wouldn’t let me order the wipes without purchasing that adorable swim diaper too. You believe me, right? 😉

You can find Honest company products at The Honest Company or Buy Buy Baby also carries them. We have been using them for 2 weeks now and haven’t had one single rash since! Thank you Honest Company, from the bottom of my baby! 🙂

Clothing:

12 month is what fits you best but we still have you in some 9 month stuff until it warms up. Jaidan’s 12 month stuff is super summery & the weather is still pretty cool right now. Here’s our one nice day that we had where we went to the park.

Developmentally:

You are the happiest when you are standing or pushing things to walk with. You love climbing and crawling all over your foam play mat. You recently started pulling our faces to look at you and then you just stare at us. I’m not sure what you are doing but you are really studying our faces.

You got your top tooth! I haven’t really been looking forward to this. I love your gummy smile. There’s plenty of time for teeth later but I don’t get that choice. So you have your top tooth and the one next to it is next. Not your other front tooth, the one next to it. Just like Jaidan’s! So you have 3 teeth and you are working on at least 3 more. You’ve got a lot going on in your mouth right now.

So we also thought you were teething at the beginning of your 8th month. Like bad teething with a fever, super fussy, super unhappy and just not yourself. From Monday to Friday you were completely miserable. Saturday Jaidan ended up with a really high fever and sick. Long story short he had strep throat and I’m not completely sure you were teething instead of having strep throat too. Boo. I can’t keep up. No more sickness please!!

Note from Daddy:

Jonah, I can’t imagine how you’re going to be when you’re even a month older than now. You’re awesome in so many ways and extremely curious as to what’s going on around you. And I can already tell the things you and Jaidan are going to get into :D.

Your personality is really starting to shine through and it’s awesome to see how different you are from anyone I know. It just makes me realize even more the incredible creative power of God and how he has made you specifically to be you. I love that you’re so ambitious, that you love your brother so much and that I have the privilege of putting you to sleep most of the time.

Probably my favorite thing right now with you is how you recognize when I’m gone for awhile. I could be out in the office for a couple of hours and when I come in, you head straight for me so I can hold you. Not all the time, but sometimes and it’s such a great feeling to know you feel secure with me.

For this month, I just want to say how much I’m looking forward to the adventures we’ll have and the time we’ll get to spend together. Most of all, I hope your little personality continues to shine and you always keep that smile on your face. I love you.

Big Brother Jaidan:

I love you so much and you are so cute! -Love Jaidan

Extra/Random:

Ohhh I almost forgot to mention that we had a pacifier dilemma this month!! I’m a bit of a freak about teeth (I had braces 3 times!) so when you started getting your top teeth in I wanted to make sure your pacifier was orthodontically correct. Is that even a term? And why in the world did I not check that out when you were first born, I have no idea! Turns out the only pacifiers you liked were not ‘orthodontically correct’ and we went through a few pacifiers trying to get you to switch. You were not a fan of the wide nipple & I thought we were going to have a really hard time but it only took you about 24 hours to make the final switch and then you were fine and now you will actually take any pacifier. It’s because I prayed about it! The times that I pray knowing only prayer will be the answer it happens right away. I should pray like that about everything. I made a little video of you trying it for the first time.

We also broke down and bought a new baby monitor! The one from Jaidan broke and they don’t make the parts anymore (we called the manufacturer) We were using a $4 app on our phones that worked okay but it didn’t have night vision and it was such a pain. We have to use the video monitor. We only use it for naps but it was really needed because when you wake up you don’t cry… you just start crawling! So we gotta be quick. haha
